Flying High

Edition 2 / 23. August 2017

Fashion & food at the Vienna Airport – this means trends and enjoyment at the highest level!

In anticipation of a holiday or weekend trip it pays off to take some extra time at the Vienna Airport since relaxation and fun begin way before take-off!
The Vienna Airport proves to be a true shopping paradise for over 23.4 million travellers from all over the world. Whether classic or sporty, casual or elegant, shoes or accessories – on the way to the gate, international top brands are trying to find their way into your hand luggage.

At the cult brand Dolce & Gabbana, the exclusive men’s labels Hugo Boss and Ermenegildo Zegna, the Austrian multi-brand store Liska, the luxury bag producers Longchamp, Furla and Michael Kors, the German star designer Philipp Plein, the famous lingerie label Victoria’s Secret, which operates its only store in Austria here, the local clothing label Wolford and many other high-end boutiques – from Calvin Klein to Salvatore Ferragamo through to Versace – every fashion wish is fulfilled. Not to be forgotten are luggages from Rimowa and Samsonite.
Newest collections from around the world are just as represented as jewelry and watches here – at Christ, Frey Wille, Swarovski and additional jewelers. Open 365 days a year.
Furthermore, there is the comprehensive duty-free offering. With a total of ten shops, the famous retail label Heinemann Duty Free is well represented at all gates and invites passengers to go shopping. Here, travellers can find everything from sweets to champagne and liquors trough to toys, perfumes, cosmetics, accessories and delicacies. A diverse assortment at very reasonable prices.
Additionally, the duty-free provider with generous offerings scores with two special customer-friendly services. For travellers within the EU, Heinemann Duty Free stores bought items for free until the return. Advantage of this pick-up service: less hand luggage and therefore a more comfortable trip. On the other hand, pre-order service allows one to pre-order the desired item up to twelve hours before departure and can then just be picked up at the shop.
The Vienna Airport proves its taste not only with shops, but also with various restaurants. “Enjoy and feel comfortable” is the credo of the new concept.

The “Rustichelli & Mangione” for example, offers everything a real Italian focacceria would: fresh panini, Mediterranean snacks and excellent espresso. Especially spectacular is the “Zugvogel” – a visionary restaurant with an impressive view of the apron, show kitchen and personal event area.
Exclusive concepts of major franchise holders further strengthen the great offer of venues available. At the Pier West, an 800 m2 big food court by “Do & Co” was arranged, with high-quality culinary brands such as “Demel”, “Henry”, the American diner “Big Daddy” and an adventure area for children.
The options range from traditional coffee house culture with original Wiener Schnitzel and pastries as well as cakes through to fresh salads, high-quality burgers and cold or warm sandwiches.
The new bar “Natural Tastes” is a special eye catcher: the “healthy bar” is centrally located and offers juices, homemade lemonades and granola bars through to packed desserts.
The offer at Pier West is perfectly complemented by the local “Daily Roast” – a concept of the world-famous Viennese restaurant Figlmüller. Here, the hungry guests are served fine pitas, crispy salads, sweet sins with a coffee of the best Arabica beans or a cold beer.

A completely new addition to the gastronomic scene at the Vienna Airport is the British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, who opened his innovative take-away restaurant “Jamie’s Deli” in terminal 3 at the beginning of April. Here, one can find filled sandwiches, oven cooked sweet potatoes, honey roasted granola pots, superfood salads, smoothies and fresh, varied dishes to take away. Jamie Oliver relies on sustainability and regional products, and forgoes all preservatives!
However, “Jamie’s Deli” is just the beginning of a smart gastronomic offense by the British chef.
“Jamie’s Italian” is expected to open towards the end of 2017. Here, guests will be able to enjoy Mediterranean dishes and a high-quality service in a relaxed restaurant atmosphere. Followed by a bar, which will serve international cocktails as well as small snacks, in the middle of 2018.
The new hot spots of Jamie Oliver will then take up a total area of 800 m2 and won’t only make his fans happy. Excellent service and exclusive shopping make a stay at Vienna Airport a “pre-holiday” on a daily basis.
The Vienna Airport was awarded the 4-star title by Skytrax as well as the “Best Airport Staff” award. Here, the guest experiences a real “flying high” feeling, even with the service quality.
