My Home is my Castle

Edition 2 / 23. August 2017

A travel destination for interior & garden fans and lovers of beautiful things with beautiful backdrop. Welcome at Schloss Walpersdorf.

If the time-honored walls could talk, they would be able to tell legendary stories. We are in the era of Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht Dürer and William Shakespeare. The gloomy Middle Ages were overcome, when the imposing, fortified castle with castle chapel was completed in 1571. It can look back at an ever-changing history: once the residence for various noble families, then silk spinning, and today the impressive headquarter for Lederleitner, the Austrian home decor and garden specialist, who offers a permanent furniture exhibition, a shop, the castle brewery Walpersdorf as well as the kitchen Balthasar.
The paradise for all senses is located just an hour’s drive from Vienna, close to Krems. A trip which truly pays off. For the tour through the showrooms one should definitely take one’s time, the watches tick slower here. Furthermore, the eyes have to take in all the “livable” ideas, the interior loving mind places vases on to tables, which both will be purchased in the Lederleitner shop an hour later. The view into the former pheasantry, where woolly sheep graze now, makes the pulse of the people stressed by the big city switch over to relax mode. One immediately wants to go out into this lush green. Where else, if not at the star gardening business of the country, would it perform in such juicy shades? Here a tray with a candle, there a delightful flower pot with a hydrangea. Yes, life is beautiful at castle Walpersdorf – and it was good that the family Lederleitner bought the former monastery and made it into a true oasis for customers and travel tourists.
After the tour one deserves a biodynamic beer from the hops brewery Schloss Walpersdorf. Cheers!
